We’re proud to share that we’ve released the 2024 JBS Sustainability Report — a comprehensive look at our global sustainability strategy, initiatives and progress toward our long-term goals. This report reflects the collective efforts of our teams around the world.
As a global food company operating across five continents, JBS is part of a resilient and evolving food system. We’re uniquely positioned to help meet the growing demand for protein while advancing sustainability across both traditional and alternative protein segments. Our focus on value-added products and strategic diversification continues to strengthen our impact and reach.
JBS sits at a crucial junction in the food value chain—downstream from producers and suppliers and upstream from retailers, foodservice partners and consumers. This position gives us both the opportunity and responsibility to influence meaningful change across a complex global supply chain.
This year, we delivered measurable results across a wide spectrum of efforts. A few standout accomplishments include:
• Achieved a 71% improvement in Global Safety Index performance compared to the 2019 baseline.
• Invested more than $1.27 million in the U.S. Better Futures Program, providing tuition support for team members and their families.
• In Brazil, we expanded our Green Offices program and launched a new cattle sustainability initiative in partnership with the State of Pará—one of the region’s largest animal traceability and tagging efforts.
• In the United States, we partnered with GreenGasUSA to install on-site systems that will capture and convert wastewater biogas emissions into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas. Launching in 2025, these systems will help offset fossil fuel use equivalent to 60 million car miles or 26 million pounds of coal annually.
• In Australia, we initiated a third-party analysis of regenerative agriculture practices at more than 100 farms in the Great Southern™ program.
• In Mexico, we introduced specialized enzymes in our chicken diets, resulting in a 35,000 MT CO2e reduction of GHG emissions, improved feed conversion, and reduced nutrient emissions (PO4 and NO3).
• In Europe, we achieved the highest ranking “Tier 1” status on the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) for animal welfare performance at our pork facilities.
This progress is just a snapshot of the work underway across our operations and supply chain. I encourage you to explore the full report and the following additional resources:
